Privacy policy

This policy describes what Intellecta collects when you use the site, why, who it is shared with, and how to have it removed. It covers intellecta.app and the practice tools on it.

Using Intellecta without an account

Core practice works without signing in. When you start as a guest we create a temporary guest record so your progress can be saved, and we store an identifier for it in a cookie on your device. That record holds a generated placeholder email, the label “Guest User”, and the IP address of the request. If you later sign in, guest activity from that session is merged into your account.

What we collect when you have an account

  • Account details. Your name and email address. If you sign in with Google, these come from your Google profile — we do not receive or store your Google password.
  • Practice activity. Attempts, answers, scores, generated feedback, study roadmaps, mistake notebook entries, and flashcard decks.
  • Content you submit. Text you write or paste, files you upload, and audio you record for speaking practice, together with the output generated from it.
  • Messages you send us. Contact and feedback form submissions, including the name, email address, and message you provide.

Why we process it

  • To produce the feedback, scores, and study plans you asked for.
  • To save your history so you can review past attempts and track recurring mistakes.
  • To keep the service working — diagnosing errors, preventing abuse, and applying rate limits to AI requests.
  • To reply to messages you send us.

Who we share it with

  • AI processing. Text and audio you submit for feedback are sent to a third-party AI provider to generate that feedback. They process it to return a result for your request.
  • Google Analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used. It records page views and similar usage events. We do not send it the content of your practice answers.
  • Google Sign-In. Used only if you choose to sign in with Google.
  • Hosting and email providers. Our infrastructure and email delivery providers process data on our behalf in order to run the service.

We do not sell your data, and we do not share your practice content with advertisers.

Cookies and local storage

  • Session cookie. Required. Keeps you signed in, or keeps a guest session attached to its progress.
  • Analytics cookies. Set by Google Analytics to measure usage.
  • Local storage. Stores your light or dark theme preference in your browser. It is never sent to us.

You can block or clear cookies in your browser. Blocking the session cookie will prevent progress from being saved.

How long we keep it

Account data and practice history are kept while your account exists, so that your history remains available to you. Guest records and their activity are retained to support the merge-on-sign-in behaviour described above and are removed periodically. Contact and feedback messages are kept while they are useful for support.

Your rights

You can ask us what data we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for your account and its learning history to be deleted. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to restrict or object to processing, and to receive a copy of your data.

Email support@intellecta.app from the address associated with your account and tell us what you want done.

Children

Intellecta is intended for people preparing for university-entrance and immigration English tests and is not directed at children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.

Security

Traffic is encrypted in transit. Access to production data is limited to people who need it to operate the service. No system is perfectly secure, so please do not submit information you would not want processed by a third-party AI provider — in particular, avoid putting identity documents, financial details, or other people's personal data into practice answers.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially, the updated date at the top of this page will change. Continuing to use Intellecta after a change means the revised policy applies.
